THOMAS WEST FOR JUDGE

19th DISTRICT COURT
McLENNAN COUNTY

Thomas West has represented the State of Texas for 10 years as a felony prosecutor.  Since that time, he has represented citizens accused of felonies and he ensures that the rule of law is followed as set forth by the Constitution.   He has also worked as an associate judge for the City of Hewitt. Given his extensive knowledge in criminal law, and his experience as both an attorney and local judge, it’s no surprise that he has thrown his hat in the ring as a candidate for Judge of the 19th Judicial District Court.

There is no one more qualified than Thomas West. He has the litigation experience needed to apply the law and to protect victims of crime. He has been Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2002. A seasoned prosecutor, he served almost 10 years in the McLennan County Criminal District Attorney’s office. Since going into private practice, he has served as a criminal defense attorney for 18+ years in McLennan County, State, and federal courts. Additionally, he has served as municipal court prosecutor for the City of Lorena since 2001, and as an associate judge for the City of Hewitt since 2018. West has been voted by his peers as a “Super Lawyer” multiple times from 2009 to present, and one of the Top 100 National Trial Attorneys from 2015 to present.

Thomas West

Thomas West believes in three pillars to practice law

Experience

West has handled thousands of cases over his career—from the smallest infraction of the law to the most serious offenses facing our citizens.

Integrity

Integrity means being a man of your word and doing what you say you’ll do. West believes in the old-fashioned handshake philosophy of doing what’s right.

Common Sense

As far as common sense is concerned, West believes you need to use good sense and sound judgment when you’re applying the law to the facts of the case.

West’s experience as an associate judge in Hewitt, plus his experience as a prosecuting criminal attorney has well equipped him to serve citizens of McLennan County as Judge of the 19th Judicial District Court.

Our community and country need good, godly men like Thomas West! My family and I have known Thomas for the past 19 years or more. We have seen his compassionate side and his efficient, level-headed side as well. He has represented us very well in various business proceedings. We valued his wise counsel in those instances and the manner in which he concluded the cases for us.

Jackie Toby, owner of The Vibe in McGregor, who has known Thomas for years. Her husband, Mike Toby was the pastor of First Woodway Baptist Church before his passing in 2015. Jackie fully supports Thomas.

If elected Judge of the 19th Judicial District Court, Thomas West already has big plans in mind. “I want to reduce the backlog of cases to ensure that victims have their day in court. I also want to reduce the time that accused citizens are in jail awaiting their day in court,” he said.

He would also like to create a fully-electronic courtroom—allowing attorneys to use today’s technology to better present juries the facts of a case, and it would move trials through the system in a more timely manner.

The runoff will be held on July 14th.

Early voting for the runoff will be held
June 29-July 2 & July 5-July 10.

We encourage all voters to get out and vote.
